Trend of the Month: Pastels

Spring has almost sprung and I'm seeing them everywhere- all types of clothing, accessories, new hair dyes, and bold new makeup palettes- pastels are being marketed everywhere as the perfect girly touch to any look. Whether you're going for a "grungy" look and use pastels in your accessories amongst an all black ensemble, or you prefer a more "preppy" look, and all the big pieces in your closet are baby blue, cotton candy pink, and lavender- pastels are versatile and complimentary to anyone.

Pastels always begin to make an appearance this time of year, but they're starting to pop up everywhere. My favorite pastels trend is the hair. Gorgeous shades of purples, pinks, and blues are all over Tumblr, Pintrest, Blogger, even New York Fashion Week had models with the new edgy look.

Pastels have been taking over online shopping as well, these two looks were spotted on Nastygal.

They're soft, sweet, and feminine without being too youthful.

The next trend for this fall seems to be pastels with Earthy and natural tones, as the pastels have become more muted this season. The pink is turning into a light rose, the lavender a soft periwinkle, and powder blue completes the new color scheme.

The colors are beautiful, soft, and complimentary to every skin tone. They are also versatile and can easily be added to any wardrobe. An easy and trendy way to incorporate the colors with your ensemble is with quartz necklaces. They're sold at Urban Outfitters, but I found some really cute ones on Etsy.com here, here, and here.

Sorry about not posting last week! I'm still new to this and I'm trying to get organized before I start posting all the time, so bear with me. Hope you're having a good week!

My Week in Pictures

Hey guys! So goes my first week with the blog in mind. I actually did a lot concerning fashion projects that were due this week so I took a lot of pictures and went to Melrose Avenue a few times.
On Monday I went to LACMA for my art basics class with some friends. They had a Diane Von Furstenberg exhibit up in honor of the 40 year anniversary of her wrap dress that I loved. It was so incredible, every wrap dress she's ever designed was there and I was in awe. I even got to touch one with permission from a security guard! If you're in the LA area, check it out while you can.
That day I wore a varsity jacket from Forever 21, a DimepieceLA crop top, Miss Me jeans I bought at Buckle, and my white vinyl Doc Martens.

Wednesday I went to Melrose Avenue with my best friend, Janice, to get some pictures for a trend forecasting project. I also styled her before we left the house, with her wearing her new THFKDLF gear (hat and shirt), BDG high waisted jeans, sunglasses and socks from Urban Outfitters, and Steven Madden boots.
I was wearing a fuzzy jacket from Topshop, leather and cotton crop top from dimepieceLA, maroon easy jeans from American Apparel, sunglasses from Urban Outfitters, and my Pink and Pepper boots.
Unfortunately, I didn't find much else there and we headed home. On Wednesday I got a message from a photographer asking me to style a photo shoot for her, and I immediately said yes! I can't believe I'm finally getting noticed out here. Saturday I met up with her and the model and picked out the outfits for the shoot which will be next Sunday. She was so sweet and so was the model, and I'm excited to get my portfolio started. Late Saturday night I came home from spending the rest of the day with Kristen and made a presentation about the Spice Girls that I think I'd like to share with you guys next week. Hope you all are having a terrific weekend!

New Beginnings

Hey guys! I am so excited to start this new blog and share my journey with all of you. It's been a dream of mine for years, and I finally decided to get it started. On this blog I will mostly be posting about fashion, beauty, and my lifestyle, consisting of "outfit of the day" posts, my inspirations, trends I like, and possibly other changes I'm making in my life like healthy eating and working out. I'm trying to make positive changes in my life and I think this blog is just the thing to help get me started.

While I get this up and running, you can check out my tumblr blog here :)
